Viji Narayanan graduated from Madras Medical College, Madras University with MBBS in 1986 and entered general practice in India. She underwent ENT training in the University of Madras between 1994-97 and obtained a Diploma in Otolaryngology.
Viji immigrated to NZ in 1997 and entered surgical training as surgical registrar in Auckland and Wellington hospitals . She developed a special interest for skin cancer management during her plastic surgical registrar rotation in Middlemore hospital.
In 2006, Viji developed her private clinic for mole screening and diagnosis of early melanoma and skin cancer management in Auckland in 2006.
Her other area of interest is cosmetic medicine with emphasis on light based treatments for anti-aging and reversing sun damage.
Viji is a member of ACSCM and New Zealand representative.
